Since he was let fly in 2014, the singer has successfully grew from just being Don Jazzy’s artiste, to being an entity on his own. He is Korede Bello, the man with the hits, the singer with the ladies in his corner, and the man who is developing a Midas touch.

“Belloved”, which will be released in 2017. The time appears right for the singer. Where last year, all of the focus was on getting Reekado Banks push out his project, and generate value from it, this year is Korede’s year.

The label intends to roll out his debut project, and push him past his ‘singles’ stage into the next stage of his career.
Korede Bello, since he was announced as a Mavin artiste has had varied success. When he fails, he does it spectacularly, like the funny work on ‘Mungo Park’, and the hapless ‘One and Only’, which felt a bit too rushed.
But it is his successes that has made him grow, and defined him as the big artiste that he is now. Korede Bello has struck gold on many occasions. On ‘Godwin’, he combined beautifully with Don Jazzy to create a hit which conquered every known and imaginable demography on the continent. ‘Romantic’, a collaboration single with Tiwa Savage is a timeless piece that never feels old.
And ‘Do like that’, is a stunner, which has transitioned his brand from the happy-go-lucky kid with a guitar and some wink, to a virile young stud who makes out with the ladies, and is capable of breaking hearts. That song made him a Yoruba Mavin Demon. And the ladies love him for it.
After proving again and again that he is the man for the big occasion, he has to grow in his career. And to do that, full-length projects need to be released. For his level of talent and the profile that he has built, the time is right for him to push the album through.
With this announcement of a forthcoming project, what happens next is for the Mavins to activate their well-oiled PR machinery. The record label signed up to leading Nigerian talent management company, Temple Management, and if the deals are right, the company will play the lead role in the marketing of the project.
There has been no big reveal on the nature of the project, or the artistic direction. But if all things remain equal, then Korede Bello would provide us with variations of what he has previously given us, once in every three months.
But the singer is ready for it. All the signs look good; his hit songs are in, he enjoys a dedicated following within and outside Nigeria, he makes music that appeals and connects, and he has the work rate and framework to promote his material.
